For parents, co-ops & homeschool groups

A family history unit your group can run this term.

Operation Granny Files teaches genealogy as detective work: learners interview relatives, read real records, and build a family tree, with a grown-up guiding every step. It fits a co-op class, a support-group project, or a kitchen table.

What's in it

  • Family History Adventures (Homeschool Workbook 1): The first workbook in the series and where most families start.
  • DNA & Family Tree Building (Homeschool Workbook 2): Kids learn what DNA can and can't tell a family, and how to build a tree that holds up. The workbook is test-optional throughout, so no DNA kit purchase is needed.
  • Telling The Story (Homeschool Workbook 3): Kids turn their research into a family story worth keeping. It includes a Parent-Facilitator Guide on writing about real, living people.

A note for grown-ups on privacy

Family history is personal. Every activity is designed to stay with the family: nothing in the workbooks asks a child to post names, photos, places or DNA results online. Anything that involves sharing goes through a parent or group leader, and living relatives stay private.
